SHIPS

Ashen Daughter (Daughter-class Light Cruiser): Slower than the Hunter, the Daughter-class is still a fast ship. It has considerably heavier broadsides, and the lance turrets, though identical in number (five doubles), are heavier. It has eight torpedo tubes, compared to the Hunter's six, and about twice the number of small craft. Void shielding is comparable to the Hunter's, but the Daughter has actual cruiser-grade armor (the Hunter has very light armor).

It has room for a full 300-strong company of Astartes, plus facilities for support staff, making it nearly double the size of the Ashen. In a pinch, more can be squeezed in.

Ashen Promise (Hunter-class Heavy Frigate): See the ship page

Black Comet (Viper-class Escort): Even smaller than a destroyer, the Viper is weak both offensively and defensively, but it is fast, agile, and has decent sensor capabilities. The perfect patrol and picket ship.

ASTARTES (150)

5 Command Squad (Lt Tyndarios): Composite squad consisting of Daecrus (Granite), Oskyr (Wolves), Karyth (Alpha), and Erastes (Emperor's Children).

5 Daughters of Terra (Warden Anaïs): Perhaps it is her youth that works against her, but she seems very distant and unfocused. Not great traits in a Warden (Keeper).

10 Word Bearers (Chaplain Iason): Seem rather unhappy to be aboard. Most of the other Legions seem rather unhappy to have them around. Hard to tell exactly why. Perhaps it's the fact that their morale officer likes to pontificate and belittle? He's especially obnoxious toward the Ultras (he thinks them sloppy in their work, weak of mind, and lacking true dedication) and the Iron Hands (accusing them not so subtly of straying from the Imperial Truth into superstition and tech-worship).

20 Iron Hands (Iron Father Stavros): Seems like a decent commander and wise in the ways of the machine, even though his Legion comes dangerously close to tech-worship (they are not covered by the Treaty of Mars). But he's also pissed - to put it bluntly - that he's been sent to the wrong battlefront. He seems to think of the logistical error as a slight against his Legion and Primarch.

50 Ultramarines (Decurion Marius Belisarius): If the decurion, a highly decorated sergeant of five decades, is bothered about his commander being wet behind the ears, he betrays no sign. Say what you will of the Astartes Ultra: they obey the chain of command.

10 Imperial Fists (Veteran Sergeant Kallin): Kallin seems much happier now that he's no longer in command. He's even taken to quarreling over seniority with other sergeants. Always a good sign among cousin Astartes.

20 Emperor's Children (Veteran Sergeant Calvien): Calvien and his brood, now double in size, keep largely to themselves, which is a change from before. Erastes is the only one to freely interact with the other Legions.

10 Alpha Legion (Sergeant Pheron): Who knows what Pheron really thinks. But it doesn't matter; he is no more or less likely to follow the orders given by Tyndarios than those issued by Kallin. It's unclear if the "stowaway" Astartes is among the 10 or if there are actually 11 Alpha Legion on board.

10 Space Wolves (Sergeant Hrothgar): Hrothgar - and the rest of his squad - seem very pleased to be "out from under the Fist" and look forward to putting the enemies of mankind "between a rock and a hard place."

10 Granite Guard (Veteran Menalkos): Menalkos is acting sergeant while Tyndrel recovers. He's a no-nonsense and to-the-point Granite Guard. No signs of excessive fatalism.
